blast from the past.....

To those who can remember this, check out this golden oldie from the early 80's..... enjoy!!!

Michael Jackson - The Thriller

1st verse
It's close to midnight, and something evil's lurking in the dark.
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart.
You try to scream! But terror takes the sound before you make it.
You start to freez! As horror looks you right between the eyes.
You're paralyzed!!

Chorus
'cause this is Thriller!! Thriller night!
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike!
You know it's Thriller!! Thriller night!
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight!!!

2nd verse
You hear the door slam. And realize there's nowhere left to run.
You feel the cold hand. And wonder if you'll ever see the sun.
You close your eyes! And hope that this is just imagination.
But all the while, you hear the creature creepin' up behind.
You're out of time!!

Chorus
'cause this is Thriller!! Thriller night!
There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes!!!
'cause this is Thriller!! Thriller night!
You're fighting for your life inside of killer, thriller tonight!!!

Bridge
Night creatures call and the dead start to walk in their masquerade....
There's no escapin' the jaws of the alien this time....
(they're open wide)
This is the end of your life!!

3rd verse
They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side.
They will possess you, unless you change the number on your dial.
Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together!!
All thru the night I'll save you from the terror on the screen.
I'll make you see!

Chorus
That this is Thriller!! Thriller night!
'cause I can thrill you more than any ghost would dare to try
Girl, this is Thriller!! Thriller night!
So let me hold you tight and share a killer, diller, chiller...
Thriller here tonight!

(rap performed by vincent price)
Darkness falls across the land
The midnite hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize your neighbourhood
And whosoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpse's shell
The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
And grizzy ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

(into maniacal laugh, in deep echo)

and the word of the day is... part 2

emulate

tr.v. em-u-lat-ed, em-u-lat-ing, em-u-lates

1)To strive to equal or excel, especially through imitation: an older pupil whose accomplishments and style I emulated.
2)To compete with successfully; approach or attain equality with.
3) Computer Science. To imitate the function of (another system), as by modifications to hardware or software that allow the imitating system to accept the same data, execute the same programs, and achieve the same results as the imitated system.

in a sentence: I can only hope to emulate people such as those that served in World War II with courage and honor. At least they are not as gay as

Martin.

We stand alone together

In less than two months time, we will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of one of the most important dates of our history. It is a date that should be ingrained in the minds of our generation and future generations to come. I don't want to sound cliched, but this is a date that should live in Infamy.

June 6, 1944. D-Day.

It was on this day that Allied Troops left England to begin the campaign that would spell doom for the Nazis. Troops involved in this invasion called it the "Day of Days", which marked the beginning of the end for the Axis powers and their occupation of Western Europe. The invasion that started in the beaches of Normandy led to the eventual defeat of Germany, but at the cost of thousands of lives. I am dedicating this blog entry to those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in a war that not many of them understood, but went on to fight anyway. Some were volunteers, and some where conscripted into service, but they were all soldiers in the end, fighting together for a common goal.

American soldiers that fought in WWII, such as those who were immortalized in the HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers", trained and served with honor and courage. They did so knowing full well that they would fight battle after battle that many of them would not come back from. What made them go on? What made them trudge forward with guns blazing, bullets flying, and courage intact? Was it the camaraderie they shared with each other? Was it the bonds of brotherhood that they forged together through a harrowing experience such as World War II? Whatever the reason, they died together, they fought together, and they stood alone together. Such was their way.

But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother;

-William Shakespeare

Colgate is in my shitlist also....

I was with Martin when Colgate "uninvited" him. I'm not going to expound on the details regarding how, why and what happened out of respect for Martin, but needless to say, I took offense to it as well. I thought it was very callous, rude, and immature of Colgate to do what he did, especially since Martin opened his house and home to him even without knowing him at all. I felt like it was a slap in the face and a complete insult. Dammit, I'm getting mad again!!!! grrr.....

Anyway, Colgate is actually a close friend of of one of our friends, whom I will call CRAPBAG. Crapbag's friend Colgate decided to hang with us maybe about a year and a half ago (possibly more). Martin didn't really know him and wasn't really properly introduced to him but he still welcomed him in his casa because that is who Martin is. Martin has this open-door policy where a friend of a friend is always welcome in his abode, so long as they respect him and his property. That's just the way he is. Friendly to a fault. Martin's also gay, but that's for another blog for another day.

So regarding my story, Martin didn't feel uncomfortable at all, nor did he complain to Crapbag about taking Colgate into his house. He always welcomed him and respected him as Crapbag's friend so there was no issue with him hanging out in Martin's house. So you can imagine my surprise when Martin's kindness was reciprocated in that way. I was mad as hell. So mad, that I added Colgate into my shitlist, which currently has three people in it. The Fab Four can take a gander as to who the other people are. I've unofficially uninvited Colgate in all my events because of his idiocy. Seeing as how short life is, I really have no time for morons like him. He can sit in the back of the bus, so to speak, for all I care.

Politics in a nutshell

My second blog of the day is a response to Anny's response to my blog. Get it? Anyway, I agree with Ann's assessment of what politics is. To me, it's like a Neverending Story. An issue can, and usually will, have more than one political side to it. Nothing within politics can be pigeon-holed into an x vs. y issue. There is no figurative black or white. Usually, there's a big scale of gray where people try to determine which side they lean more into. In the case of the war in Iraq, I've been in ALL spectrums of this debate. There was a time when I saw the need to come into Iraq and kick Saddam's ass out of that damn country. At that time, I believed that war was necessary to save the common folks of Iraq greatly afflicted by it. And then, there's been times and moments as well where I was greatly opposed to the war, simply because our true purpose of going there had been muddled by politics and the overall power of the Almighty Dollar. And I've been in between these two extremes as well depending on what day of the week you caught me and asked me about it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that in politics, your beliefs and views can change like dirty underwear. There is no quick fix and there is no easy answer. Debates will continue, lines will be drawn, and sides will be taken. But in the end, when actions matter, and end results lead to more opinions, debate over issues will continue and they will never die. That is the crux of politics.

Rest in Peace, Pat....

This morning I woke up to the news that Pat Tillman was just killed in Afghanistan during an ambush that his platoon went through. A majority of you might wonder who this guy is, and with good reason. Pat Tillman was an ex-football player who quit the NFL to fight in Afghanistan along with his younger brother. He used to play with the Arizona Cardinals where he led the team in tackles as an undersized linebacker one year. He garnered a small amount of accolades for his tenacity, work ethic and accomplishments on the field, but it was his heroism and patriotism off the field that has moved an entire country. He walked away from a $3.6 million contract extension because he felt he could best serve his country and himself if he went to the Middle East to fight the terrorists that perpetrated the 9/11 attacks. He made the decision to quit the NFL and serve his country just after he and his wife came back from their honeymoon. Pat was only 27 and yet his life had more worth than some others who's lived twice as long as he did.

For some reason, his death affected me alot. Maybe it's because I would never be courageous enough to do what he did. Or maybe it's because I KNOW I would never sacrifice as much as he did. When I first heard about him quitting 2 years ago, I thought about how crazy and ridiculous of a decision that was. Imagine walking away from a multi-million dollar contract. Just think about going from the Penthouse to a fox hole. Imagine going from tackling a quarterback to crawling on the ground avoiding sniper fire. That just tripped me up!! But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that what he did was a good thing. While some of us were disgusted and sickened by the horrors of 9/11, Pat took that extra step and did something about it. He went to fight to avenge the deaths and he went to fight to protect other Americans.

We should all be so lucky to have a Pat Tillman in our lives. I might not have known him personally, but he really moved me because of his sacrifice. It puts into perspective the trivialities of our lives when we compare what we go through daily to what he went through.

Rest in peace, Pat. You will never be forgotten.

Hi, my name is Sony P. What's yours?

hmmmmmmm.......

Maybe I should change my name to XBOX 2.0? Would I attract female geeks like shit attracting dung beetles? Probably not, but it's something to ponder and waste time with in the near future. Maybe I should ask Dao if she'll still marry me if I change my name to Uvana Hompalot or Derek Lipschitts. How about Donny BananaHammock? That sounds cool, right?

hmmmmmmm.......

Dao BananaHammock?? Oh she'll definitely love that. Might as well call her Speedo Head!! Can you say DIVORCE in three different languages?????

Peanut butter and Jam

Hey Jam!! You enjoying this? Good!! You better, I just dedicated 5 minutes of a blurb all to you!! By the way, I think your boytoy Chris (or whatever the hell his name is) is cool, but I think he's too quiet. He needs to let loose with his size 13s and let everyone know what he really thinks!! If he trains, he can be just as crass, and rude, and crazy like me. But only if he trains his ass off... cuz no one can compare to the big J-O-J-O when it comes to crassness!!!

MUWAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!

ok bye....

Another one bites the dust...

Yes!!! I've turned another one over to the dark side. I somehow conviced my buddy Ann to start sharing her innermost thoughts to strangers online. Well, to be truthfull, I wasn't really trying to get her to start a blog. She just saw mine and was intrigued by the crap I wrote and the dirty laundry that I let air out. At the least, welcome to the 21st Century Ann!!! Don't get Mark pissed off at you now!! :-)

Just kidding!! Anyway, Ann is my online homey. Everytime I get bored, pissed off, or just frustrated, I can always count on her to shoot the shit with, in a manner of speaking of course. We don't really shoot the physical SHIT, because that would be gross... and really stupid. But at the least, she is my online confidant. My personal internet ear, so to speak, and my own personal venting machine. If it weren't for her, I would've gone postal at work already or I would've castrated myself with a rusty knife. Either way, thanks Ann for keeping me sane in my own insane world!!!

Shove it where the sun don't shine....

I hate my job. I hate my job with the rage of a bull goring an exhasperating matador. I hate my job so much that I would rather shove thumbtacks up my ass and my penis simultaneously instead of being at work. That's how much I hate it. How did it come to this? How is it that I hate my job now just as much as I loved it when I first started working here 10 million years ago (ok, that's an exaggeration... it's only been 5 years, 9 months, 1 week, 1 day, 7 hours)? When I first started, I thought I was the luckiest man in the world. I used to come in early and leave late. I loved my job so much that there were times I would skip lunch because I wanted to do my work. Now, it's the complete opposite. It's a cathartic turn of event. An exasperating, and emotionally stunting event in my life. All I know is, if that lead in SDSU doesn't pan out, I am going to kill myself and everybody within a 10 foot radius of my cubicle. I think I'll start with my manager.....

Selfish bastard....

I am a selfish man and I admit to it. I sometimes think of myself first before I think of others. Granted, it's not always intentional, but I usually end up trying to get what I want. And now, it seems that I'm trying to get other people to follow my philosphy.

Case in point: Dao and I were talking last night and we actually had a long and good conversation over the phone. During our conversation, she talked about how tired she had gotten ever since she moved up to her sister's place and closer to her family. The constant errands, favors, and duties of a loyal daughter, sister, and aunt has her constantly running from point A to point B to point Z. I selfishly got annoyed because I thought she was thinking too much about other people more so than herself. I went on and on about how once in a while, it's ok to be selfish and think about yourself for once. She said she understood my point and that's when she broke down in tears over the phone.

It was then that she mentioned that it was the only she could forget about her niece Catherine. Dao may have been exhausted, but keeping busy with all the errands and favors she's doing for her family is what makes her forget about her niece. If I was really thinking about her and not me, I would've seen it. I should've been the good boyfriend and I should've seen the pain she was going through. I love her alot, but sometimes my own selfishness can cloud my eyes and my judgement. I will make it up to her the next time I see her!
